Following other Bethesda published games like Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo previously coming to PlayStation, people want to know whether Redfall is coming to PS4 and PS5.

We now stand at less than a week out from Redfall with the vampiric co-op shooter's release date on console and PC set for Tuesday, May 2. So you won’t need to wait much longer to get in and blast away at nocturnal blood-suckers alongside friends. To make diving into the game even smoother you can even preload Redfall right now.

However, with the game being published by Bethesda, it has some players questioning whether or not we're getting Redfall on PS4 and PS5 on the same day that it hits Microsoft’s console.

You see, despite Microsoft announcing plans to acquire Bethesda in September of 2020, games such as Ghostwire: Tokyo and Deathloop still launched on PlayStation consoles in the months after – both titles even had a year’s exclusivity on PS5. Redfall, however, is a slightly different case in that it was the first Bethesda published game to be announced following the finalisation of Microsoft’s expensive acquisition. As such, if you’re wondering if Redfall on PS4 and PS5 exists, we have the answer.

Is Redfall coming to PS4 and PS5?

No. Unfortunately, Redfall is set to remain as a console exclusive on Xbox Series X|S for the foreseeable future. This is because every game published by Bethesda going forward will release exclusively on Xbox consoles. The only reason previous titles like Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo were able to launch with limted-time exclusively on PS5 before coming to Xbox Series X|S later is because Bethesda had made those agreements prior to the acquisition.

No such deal was in place by the time of Redfall’s reveal, but the good news is that there's Redfall crossplay so players wanting to get in on all the vampire-shooting fun can opt for either Xbox Series X|S and PC and still play with friends.. There was at one point a Redfall PS5 version in the works, but it was internally cancelled by Microsoft so that developer Arkane could focus its efforts on one console. Said efforts have still resulted in Redfall running at 30fps on Xbox consoles at launch.

Redfall is the first true fruit of the Microsoft’s purchase of Bethesda, following smaller wins with the likes of Hi-Fi Rush in January of this year and illustrated RPG Pentiment arriving late last year.

All Bethesda titles going forward are expected to be Xbox exclusive, with Starfield launching on September 6, 2023, following the release of Redfall next week. PlayStation players aren’t likely to play either unless Microsoft changes its strategy in future.
