2023’s latest Xbox console exclusive is set to launch next week, and the details for how the Redfall preload is being handled have already been made known.

Xbox players have been mostly left wanting for a big, juicy Xbox Series X|S exclusive to sink their teeth into this year. Sure, 2023 got off to an exciting start with the surprise release of Hi-Fi Rush during January’s Xbox and Bethesda Showcase and we still have Starfield to come, but before that we have Redfall releasing next week on Tuesday, May 2.

Despite being locked to just 30fps on Xbox consoles at launch most of what we’ve seen from the vampiric co-op shooter looks pretty exciting, and Redfall crossplay is confirmed so players on PC and Xbox can slay together. Sadly, seeing Redfall on PlayStation is unlikely. However, if you’re raring to go and don’t want to spend the day one launch installing the game, Redfall preload details have been made public knowledge.

Here’s what you need to know to spend less time waiting to play Redfall upon release and more time enjoying it.

Redfall: preload time

The Redfall preload is actually already live, meaning that players on both Xbox Series X|S and PC can head to their platform of choice and start downloading now. And don’t forget, while you can purchase the game outright with a standard or Redfall Bite Back Edition to choose from, subscribers to Xbox Game Pass get instant access.

That includes the Redfall preload, too, so if you’re a subscriber and are planning to jump into the co-operative vampire shooter with friends, there’s nothing stopping you from downloading the preload file right this instant. You’ll be ready to go as soon as Tuesday, May 2 rolls around – without the need to wait for the game to install.

Redfall: file size

As one of Xbox’s biggest AAA exclusives, it’d be wise to assume that the Redfall file size on PC and Xbox Series X|S will be fairly hefty. And yes, we’d be remiss not to report that the Redall install file is indeed a chonky size on both console and PC. To make it easier for you to discern how much space you’ll need, here’s a breakdown of how big each Redfall install file size is depending on platform.

  • Xbox Series X: 77.31GB
  • Xbox Series S: 40.37GB
  • PC: 94.3GB

As you can see, it’s PC players who have been done the dirtiest when it comes to the Redfall install file size. Having said that, Xbox Series X players will need to make a fair bit of room too.

That’s why, if possible, it’s well worth downloading the Redfall preload now to ensure you’re ready to slay ahead of the Xbox exclusive’s release next week.
