A holidaymaker says she was green with disgust after finding a bowl of mouldy sick under a bed at a Parkdean resort.

Louise Ward was staying at Southview caravan park to celebrate her mother-in-law Julie's 60th when she made the grim discovery.

The 38-year-old said the repulsive bowl was one of many gruesome finds during the stay at the caravan park in Skegness, Lincolnshire.

The family were already less-than-impressed with the hygiene in the caravan during their stay earlier this month, but the worst detail by far was made by Louise's daughter after noticing a rancid smell in the area around her bed.

Initially thinking the stench may be coming from an erroneous sock left by a previous guest, Louise said her stomach churned after finding the contents of someone else's lurking beneath the bed.

"My middle daughter kept complaining that she could smell sick," she told Lincolnshire Live.

"As we were doing the sweep through to check for socks that might have been lost under the bed, I thought 'what's the washing up bowl doing under the bed?'.

"I went to grab it and there was mouldy vomit in it. It was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen.

"No wonder she was complaining about the smell of sick. I was ill all that day and I had to take the day off work the following day."

Mrs Ward wasn't pleased with Parkdean Resorts' response, as she was offered £50 off her next holiday.

"Why would we book back if you leave your caravans like that?" she said.

The mum-of-three said a full refund would have been fairer compensation.

"It was a lot of money to be sleeping above of a bowl of sick," she added.

"It was a family event and it got ruined by that."

Julie Ward, whose 60th birthday the family were celebrating, was staying in another caravan with her other son and daughter-in-law.

She admitted that while their caravan wasn't as dirty, it was still below the standards she'd expect.

"There were cigarette ends all over the grass and the path," she said.

"I wouldn't let kids play there. It doesn't hurt to get a dust pan and brush and sweep up the cigarette ends.

"I'd never go back. Never."

A spokesperson for Southview Holiday Park said: "We were made aware of this on the last day of Mrs Ward's stay and immediately apologised, carried out further cleaning, and offered a gesture of goodwill.

"We have flagged this isolated issue with our cleaning staff to make sure it doesn't happen again."
