Dyson's very unique Zone headphones have finally got a UK release date and there's not long left until they arrive in stores across. The technology firm, which is famed for its dust-busting vacuums, has confirmed that its Zone cans will officially go on sale from Wednesday, May 17. Those wanting a pair will be able to grab them from Dyson's website along with Dyson Demo Stores on London's Oxford Street along with Manchester Trafford Centre and Harrods London.

The Zone headphones, which were first announced back in March 2022, aren't like anything we've seen before with these headphones not only pumping music into your ears but also filtering the air around you.

That means you only breathe in fresh oxygen rather than all of the pollution that belches out from cars, trains, planes and factories.

Special filters are tucked inside each ear cup with them cleaning the air and then blowing it down to your nose and mouth via the attached mask.

Dyson boasts that this system is capable of capturing 99% of particle pollution as small as 0.1 microns, such as dust, pollen and even bacteria.

The Zone cans might look pretty whacky but Dyson is confident that this is a gadget we all need, and they might just be right.

Recent stats suggest 99% of the world’s population live in areas that exceed the World Health Organisation's (WHO) safe levels for pollution.

Along with ensuring your lungs stay nice and clean, the Zone cans should also sound pretty good.

Dyson's music makers feature Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) technology which will block out all background sound. In fact, there are a total of 11 microphones tucked inside these gadgets which monitor surrounding noise 384,000 times a second to make sure none of it leaks through.

Along with that impressive ANC, the internal speakers have been designed to minimise distortion and improve vocals so every word should be heard loud and clear.

There's also a whopping 50-hour battery which should keep the music going for days and when they do run dry there is fast charging for a quick refill. Dyson also promises that the rugged should keep them safe should you drop them.

Finally, that spaced-aged-style purifying face mask is detachable so you don't have to wear it if you are listening to tunes somewhere pollution free.

Now, there is one sticking point and that's the price. Dyson is charging £749.99 for its Zone cans in Ultra Blue/Prussian Blue which is very, very expensive. However, things get even worse for those wanting the Dyson Zone Absolute+ Prussian Blue/Bright Copper which also includes a Travel Case, In-flight Adaptor Kit and Dust Bag. This option costs £819. Ouch!

Considering that Sony's award-winning WH-1000XM5 cost under £350 it's a very high price to pay.

Will the Zone headphones take the world by storm? We'll have to wait and see - watch this space.
