The FBI said it is prepared to investigate after a mum said her autistic Jewish son came home from school with a swastika carved onto his back.

The Las Vegas mum, who wishes to remain anonymous, complained to the local police and the Clark County School district in Nevada after the shocking antisemitic incident.

Referring to the cap worn by some Jewish men and boys, she told COL Live: "My son is the only student I know of who wears a kippah at the school".

The brutalised teen is just 17-years-old and reported to be non-verbal due to his condition.

The furious mum has since claimed that the service dog's bag had also been tampered with and her boy has now been withdrawn from Clark High School following the incident on March 9.

The FBI said: "We are aware of the incident and are in regular contact with local authorities. If during the local investigation, information comes to light of a potential federal civil rights violation, the FBI is prepared to investigate."

A statement from the school said: "We will not tolerate discriminatory behaviours that contradict an inclusive community and impact student safety and well-being.

"If anyone has any additional information related to this case, we urge them to contact school police immediately."

The school does not have CCTV cameras in classrooms, bathrooms or locker rooms and as a result, the culprits have not yet been found.

Shoham Nicolet, co-founder and CEO of the Israeli-American Council, told Fox News that the group was "appalled" to learn of the incident.

Mr Nicolet said: "The Israeli-American Council was appalled to learn that a Jewish teen may have been targeted in such an inhumane antisemitic attack.

"We urge authorities to investigate this incident to the fullest and anyone in the community who has further information to please report it to the FBI and IAC's School Watch."

Jolie Brislin, the regional director of the Anti-Defamation League Nevada, added that what happened was a "violet, antisemitic act".

Ms Brislin said: "Not only was this student targeted for his identifiable faith, but he was particularly vulnerable due to his disability...

"This incident illustrates points of intersectionality in how hate can show itself across marginalized communities."

It found that antisemitic incidents in the country increased by more than 35 per cent in the past year.
