Harry Styles says he misses being at home in England ‘more than anything’ as his hectic touring and acting life keeps him away.

The 29-year-old musician had a hugely successful night at the 2023 BRIT Award ceremony as he scooped gongs for every category he was nominated for.

The star walked away with the much coveted - and highly controversial for 2023 - British Artist of the Year as well as British Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop/R&B Act.

But while speaking to the Mirror behind the scenes of the main ceremony in the winners room, the former One Direction heartthrob confessed he misses his home most due to the sacrifices required in relation to his career.

Harry said: “I feel incredibly lucky to get to do this.

“I think especially after the last couple years of touring and everything coming back you know the last year and a half, probably miss England the most out of everything.”

He added: “Landing back this week felt really really nice and coming home and having this evening felt really special it's always gonna be very special to me.”

Harry appeared to be in a reflective mood for much of the night, as he cast his mind back to his X Factor days when he picked up the British Artist of the Year Award.

In a nod to his One Direction past, he said: "I want to thank my family for being the most supportive, understanding, patient, loving family I could have ever asked for.

"I want to thank my mum for signing me up for The X Factor without telling me, so I literally wouldn’t be here without you.

"I want to thank Niall (Horan), Louis (Tomlinson), Liam (Payne) and Zayn (Malik) because I wouldn't be here without you either, thank you so much."

He triumphed in the category which also saw Central Cee, Fred Again, George Ezra and Stormzy nominated.

Notably, there were no female nominees in the category - with the 2023 ceremony being the first year to feature one award for the ‘Best Artist’ category rather than traditional ‘Best Male’ and ‘Best Female’ artists.

There was a near immediate backlash last month when the shortlist was unveiled to reveal no women had made the cut.

And the BRITs didn’t exactly do themselves many favours when they released a piteous statement in defence of their decision making.

A spokesperson feebily said at the time: “While it’s disappointing there are no nominations in the artist of the year category, we also have to recognise that 2022 saw fewer high profile women artists in cycle with major releases as was the case in 2021.”
