'Caring' grandad found stabbed to death in his home as woman charged with murder

A woman has been charged with murder after a “caring and funny” grandad was found dead in his own home.
Paul Wagland tragically died in his home in Bristol in the early hours of Monday morning despite the best efforts of medics.
Sonja Blenkiron, who police say was known to the victim, was arrested on suspicion of his murder.
The 41-year-old has since been charged with the murder of 52-year-old Paul.
A post-mortem examination concluded the preliminary cause of death as a single stab wound.

Blenkiron remains in police custody and is due to appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court tomorrow.

Paul's family have released a heartbreaking tribute to the beloved dad and grandad after he died from a single stab wound.
In a statement, the family said: "As a family we are devastated by the sudden loss of our loving Dad. He was artistic, caring, funny and ambitious.
"He was the best ‘Pap’ to his three grandchildren who he loved unconditionally.

"His love for cooking, music and dancing will live on through us forever.
"We will always cherish the memories we had with him. He will be missed by all his family and friends.
"We are very shocked about the circumstances of our Dad’s death and would appreciate some respect and privacy at this time."

Emergency services scrambled to the address just before 3am Monday morning.
They found Paul with a number of injuries and despite the best efforts from medics he died at the scene.
Inspector Tola Munro said: "We’re working hard to establish the full circumstances which led to this man’s death and while our inquiry is at a very early stage, we’re confident this is an isolated incident between two people known to each other.

"An incident of this nature is always shocking and I appreciate people may be worried by it.
"Neighbourhood officers will be patrolling the area and anyone with concerns is encouraged to approach them."
