Yu-Gi-Oh TCG: Konami releases 25th Anniversary box with must-own God Card prints

Yu-Gi-Oh is a trading card game from Konami, similar to games like Magic The Gathering and the Pokemon Trading Card Game. It's based on the fictional game "Duel Monsters", which features in the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and anime.

This year marks its 25th birthday, and ever since Konami announced they would be releasing a box to commemorate this milestone, fans have been excitedly awaiting its release.

Filled with nostalgic cards from back as far as 2002, the set comes with 7 retro boosters, as well as an additional sealed pack of 7 card - 6 Ultra Rare, and one Quarter Century Secret Rare edition.

Six of these cards are the same for all of us - 3 of each of the God Cards, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Dark Magician, and Red-Eyes Black Dragon, and then the Quarter Century Secret Rare card comes as an additional entry and can be any of the six aforementioned cards.

The God Card prints are causing a huge stir, with users on Social Media claiming they're the best prints yet. They contain holographic details that add a 3d effect to the card art, which is otherwise similar to previous prints of The Winged Dragon of Ra, Slifer the Sky Dragon, and Obelisk the Tormentor.

In addition to these 7 cards, you get six boosters, which are reprints of older booster packs. The seven boosters are:

  • Invasion of Chaos
  • Spell Ruler
  • Dark Crisis
  • Pharoah's Servant
  • Metal Raiders
  • Legend of Blue Eye's White Dragon

These were the first six boosters ever released, and contain iconic cards from the early days of Yu-Gi-Oh!.

What are the best pulls?

Because of the nostalgic nature of the set, the best pulls are likely to be personal. That being said, there are some awesome cards that the vast majority of people will want to get their hands on:

Blue Eyes White Dragon - Legend of Blue Eyes print: This card features alternate art for the iconic Blue Eyes, and was borderline impossible to find. It was a rare pull, and back then nothing was guaranteed in terms of pull ratios, meaning that everyone wanted one, but almost no one could get one. They're nostalgic and great to look at and will appeal to every Yu-Gi-Oh! fan's inner child.

Jinzo - This card can be found in Pharoah's Servant and was Joey's go-to card once he grew out of his Red Eyes Black Dragon. It can be unearthed in Secret Rare, making it any collector's pride and joy. Jinzo is also still quite valuable, and sometimes still sees play in modern decks (although admittedly not often)

Most of the cards in Dark Crisis: This pack won't be made available outside of the Legendary Collection, unlike the other five packs. This makes the likes of D.D Warrior Lady, Vampire Lord, and Skill Drain, which are only available in the Dark Crisis packs all the more sought after.

There are a lot of other cards too, and you should check out the card list for each pack so you can get your hopes up in advance, only to have them dashed in true TCG style. Each booster contains 9 cards, making for a total of 61 cards.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! Legendary Collection - 25th Anniversary Edition - is available now from wherever you usually get your cards from.
