A woman has been arrested after police sparked a search for a sex worker in connection to the death of a married man in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Dad-of-five Nathan Millard's body was found wrapped up in carpet in Baton Rouge on March 6 after being dumped outside a garage.

On Monday, April 17, 33-year-old Tabbetha Barner was charged with prostitution and failure to seek assistance.

It's been reported in case documents that there's a belief Barner and another woman, Tiffany Guidry, were hired by Mr Millard, 42, on the night he died.

According to an arrest warrant, Millard was "looking for something to make him feel better", which indcluded "a girl to take back to his room".

Guidry was arrested on March 24 after police received an anonymous tip from a local. She was apprehended while standing on the corner of Nicholson Drive and Terrance Street.

She was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for unlawful disposal of human remains, prostitution and failure to seek assistance.

45-year-old Derrick Perkins was taken into custody on Monday, March 10, after he was "needed for questioning" by officers.

According to his arrest warrant, the person of interest was driving a stolen 2004 Toyota Camry.

Police claimed Mr Perkins spray-painted the car’s bumper and removed a sticker in a bid to "disguise" the vehicle at the same time Nathan Millard's disappearance gained "national attention".

He was also seen using Mr Millard's credit card at two different shops within days of the dad being reported missing.

In addition, Mr Perkin's address is less than a mile from the garage where the business executive was found wrapped inside a carpet.

He told police that the two women were taking drugs with Millard, and the three had sex before he died.

He said that when he returned, he stayed outside and waited for Millard and the two women to emerge after their hookup.

Perkins reportedly said not long after he returned Barner told him Millard had died, and rushed to grab Narcan in an effort to reserve an overdose. When that reportedly didn't work, the trio apparently attempted CPR.

Millard's body was then reportedly rolled in a carpet by Perkins who left it in an abandoned car park after driving around with it in his Toyota for two to four days, according to an affidavit.

Police documents said Perkins left Millard's body in his car until the "odour got too bad".

Phone records from Perkins also showed he was "at or near" the car park where Mr Millard's remains were found several times between February 23 and March 6.

Toxicology showed Mr Millard died from a combination of three different drugs - fentanyl, cocaine and ethanol.

East Baton Rough Coroner's Office ruled his death an accidental overdose three weeks after his body was found.

Nathan Millard went missing in Baton Rouge on February 22 while on a business trip.

He was last spotted with a client at a Louisiana State University basketball game, and then at Happy's Irish Pub. Sources said a worker cut him off as he had too much to drink.

He was spotted on CCTV leaving the pub at 11.30pm, walking toward the Courtyard Marriott hotel where he was staying - which was just a short walk away.

He was found by a member of the public on March 6, at around 3.34am in the 2900 block of Scenic Highway after a "stench" led a member of the public to the garage where his body had been dumped.
