Coronation Street fans are fearing an exit for Roy Cropper - as they work out what's wrong with him amid his health issues.

The much-loved soap legend has been holding onto his chest recently, complaining of pains and soreness. He had to stop dancing with Evelyn, before heading home and contacting the doctors, clearly worried about his health.

Tonight, he spoke to the doctors, who said they should do more tests before he headed over to his friend Evelyn's.

She was clearly worried about him and offered to go with him to his appointment, with fans now fearing the worst.

A third penned: "Is Roy having cardiac problems? Someone, please listen to him. He is never ill or complains about his health. #Corrie."

Others were convinced they'd worked out what might be wrong with Roy.

"#Corrie Maybe Roy is allergic to the dog or having panic attacks," one said as they hoped for the best, whilst another wrote: "Please make Roy better praying it's just the dog allergy as can cause the symptoms he has #corrie."

He made a brief exit from the soap a couple of years back and at the time, he said his character would always be remembered.

"I'm 72, obviously. When Corrie aired Norris' funeral, we had a scene with the hearse pulling up – and because of Malcolm Hebden, I thought: 'I'm really sorry that I won't get to work with him again,'" he toldInside Soap.

"But there are two exits in this for me: one for the character and one for David. Hopefully, they won't coincide - maybe they will. I know Roy leaving will get a reaction. It's a big part of your life and a big part of that popular culture. He will be remembered for a long while."

Roy left the Street in heartbreaking scenes in 2021, where he had an emotional conversation with his relative Nina.

"One day I hope you’ll find it in your heart to forgive me," he told her, "This is my only hope of peace. I must go away and atone.

"As you know I have gifted you my estate so you will always have a roof over your head and money coming in and a place to call your own in this kind and caring community. Now please."

Nina then moved to unlock the door, but she had one last thing to say.

"You know when I was beaten up it was you that brought me back," she shared, "It was your voice I could hear as I drifted in and out of consciousness. My dad left me because he had no choice. Please don’t do this to me Roy."

She added: "You’re the one person in the whole world that I trust and I love you."
