Liverpool stars leave Klopp in disbelief late on in Leeds win - "Oh my god"

Jurgen Klopp marvelled at his Liverpool players' desire to win the ball back in the 92nd minute of their 6-1 crushing of Leeds on Monday.

The Reds ran riot at Elland Road, with Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez all getting on the scoresheet. Klopp showed his passion celebrating those strikes, but he was perhaps most enthused when substitutes Thiago Alacantara, Luis Diaz and Nunez, with the help of starter Alexander-Arnold, all battled to win the ball back in the dying embers.

Liverpool's manager was seen saying: "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!" in his seat, then jumped up to applaud his players' efforts when they could've easily taken their foot off the gas. Klopp then added on the moment in his post-match interview with Sky Sports : "My favourite part was in the 92nd minute we chased the poor boy on the ball from Leeds."

No wonder he loved the night, too, as the Reds finally got back to winning ways on the road after only their fourth victory in 16 Premier League away games all season. Klopp went on to say: "I think it's the best game we've played this season from all different perspectives and aspects of the game.

"I think we forced a lot of errors but it was a really good game, sensational goals and counter-pressing - it was the best game for long time. Really happy with that game."

Fans are dreaming of a late surge into the top four, while fearing that they'll miss out on Champions League qualification for the first time since 2016 - Klopp's first season. "Where we end up I don't know but it will go on after the season so we need all the games to understand," the German admitted.

"The games are super important If we can't get anything this season, then we have to build on good performances from this last part of the season. I have no clue if we can get close, but I don't think it's too important. I would like to see us with the same desire, the same passion, the same understanding that we showed tonight."

Double goalscorer Jota echoed Klopp's sentiment, saying: "We have [had] great results this season, great scorelines. So we have these results before but we just need to keep our feet on the ground and go onto the next one."

Liverpool next host Nottingham Forest, hoping to avenge a 1-0 defeat at the City Ground earlier this term. The Reds currently sit seven points adrift of fourth-placed Newcastle, each having played 30 of their 38 games.
