Brit cyclist killed in Spain road crash after being left by rogue driver
A 69-year-old British cyclist has been killed by a hit-and-run driver in Spain.
The man died as a result of the injuries he suffered after being knocked off his bike on a road in the municipality of Torre near Almeria in the southeast of the country.
The incident happened around 10.30am on Sunday, near to a local fire station. Efforts to save his life at the scene proved unsuccessful.
Local reports say the driver who hit him continued without stopping and assisting the victim.
Civil Guard sources said today they had arrested a suspect on suspicion of manslaughter and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

The dead Brit has not yet been named and it was not clear on Monday night if he lived in the area or was on holiday.
He is believed to have been cycling alone when he was run over.
The road where he was hit is the A-6111R.
A number of deaths of Brits dying in the country have recently been reported.
In March a dad-of-two died just hours after excitedly calling his family during his first holiday abroad in Spain.

On a GoFundMePage, his cousin Naomi wrote: "Dion had settled into a wonderful life with Leanne and her two girls, and loved spending as much time as he could with his two adorable children.
"They had some great times on their visits and are really going to miss their Dad."
He is not the first Brit to die tragically as a result of a balcony fall while on holiday.
