Elton John is going to celebrate the end of his touring days with a holiday to Antarctica.

The pop legend, 76, whose European tour including a Glastonbury date ends this July, is already planning the trip with husband David Furnish and sons Zachary, 12, and Elijah, 10.

David Furnish said: “Our sons both want to go to the Antarctic and Elton wants to go to the Antarctic as well.

“It has been identified as a goal by everybody.”

The freezing destination is fast becoming a celebrity hotspot.

Ed Sheeran, a close pal of Elt, was so inspired by a trip to the continent that he gave his daughter Lyra the middle name Antarctica.

She was reportedly conceived there.

David, 60, also said that Elton planned to join Zach on global travels once he has time.

He said: “Our older son has turned into a real fishing aficionado.

“He has already gone online and identified the best fishing places in the world. He wants to go to Costa Rica, Hawaii and salmon fishing in the north of Scotland.

“We were out fishing with him on the Great Barrier Reef in January and I want to do a lot more of that.”

He added of family plans for after Elton has finished touring: “Elton wants to take the boys to more Watford games – as long as they win. I want to take Elton and the boys to India
as it is a very vibrant country. You have to dive in and travel around for it to make sense.”

Elton was revealed as a Glasto headliner back in December.

He will perform on the Pyramid Stage on Sunday June 25, closing out the main stage with his second-ever appearance at a UK festival.

He said of the gig in Somerset: “I couldn’t be more excited to be headlining the Pyramid stage.

“As the end of my Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour comes into view, there is no more fitting way to say goodbye to my British fans.

“They have been beyond brilliant and have supported me through all the highs and lows of my career.

“I can’t wait to embrace the spirit of the greatest festival in the world.”

Glastonbury co-organiser Emily Eavis added: “We will be closing the festival and marking this huge moment in both of our histories with the mother of all send-offs.

“We’re so very happy to finally bring the Rocket Man to Worthy Farm.”
