Joe Jonas is a global superstar – but he’s not too posh to head to a Wetherspoons it seems.

The pop star revealed he had visited one of the pubs, seen by some as a British institution, during his time in the UK.

He made the surprise confession in a chat with Heart Radio ’s Zoe Hardman and Jamie Theakston, much to the disbelief of the hosts.

A shocked Jamie said: “I’m going to pull you up there. You’ve never been to a Wetherspoons!”

When he admitted he had, Zoe asked Joe: “What did you think of it?

It was then the 33-year-old gave ‘Spoons’ a brutal review, telling them: “Um. I liked other places. Let’s just say it wouldn’t be my first go-to.”

The Leave Before You Love Me singer compared Wetherspoons to waffle houses in the US, which the Jonas Brothers used to frequent after shows when they weren’t old enough to drink.

In the States, the national minimum drinking age is 21, compared to 18 in the UK.

Explaining what life was life as a young star, Joe said: “For us growing up when we were touring in the States, we were too young to go and have a pint after the show and kick it with our friends.

“So we would go to the only place open late, which was a waffle house, where they serve breakfast items all day and we would sit there and talk.

“It became more of this safe place for us, so there’s other places like that for anyone in the world.”

Life has changed a lot for Joe since then, as he is now a married man after tying the knot with British Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner in 2019.

The couple said ‘I do’ in a secret ceremony in Las Vegas which was presided over by an Elvis impersonator.

But they had a second ‘proper’ wedding later that year in a beautiful chateau in the south of France.

Sophie's fellow Game of Thrones co-star Maisie Williams was a bridesmaid, while Jonas was joined by his famous brothers as groomsmen.

In a fairytale love story, the couple met three years earlier after being introduced by mutual friends.

Despite being spotted kissing at a Kings of Leon concert, they didn’t make it official until 2017.

That same year, Joe popped the question with a $150,000 (£119,000) diamond ring.

Announcing the happy news on Instagram sharing a picture of Sophie, now 27, wearing the dazzling rock, he wrote: "She said yes."

In July 2020 they welcomed daughter Willa, who is almost two. After revealing her second pregnancy at the 2022 Met Gala, Sophie gave birth to another daughter in July that year.

The private couple have never shared any photos of their children and at the time of writing have yet to reveal their second daughter’s name.
