Stabbing suspect dies after arrest and victim in hospital as bloodbath probed
A suspect who was arrested after reports of a stabbing in Greater Manchester has died, while another person has been rushed to hospital.
Police have passed the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct after a suspect died after being apprehended by officers.
Multiple police cordons have been erected in the town of Leigh after police were called to the area late on Thursday (February 9).
The second male to be taken to hospital is said to have sustained serious injuries, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Witnesses have posted to social media saying five police vans were seen, and the National Police Air Service (NAPS) helicopter was said to have been at the scene, equipped with a search light.

In a statement issued shortly after midnight on Friday morning (February 10) to the M.E.N, A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "At around 9:10pm this evening (Thursday 9 February 2023), officers were called to reports of a stabbing on Park Lane in Leigh.
"Emergency services attended the scene and a male victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The suspect initially made off from the scene following the attack, however officers were quickly able to apprehend them.
"A short time later, the male suspect became seriously unwell and despite best efforts of officers and emergency services at the scene, the male sadly died.
"An investigation has been launched and officers will remain at the scene to conduct further enquiries.”
A GMP spokeswoman later confirmed the case had been passed on to independent watchdog IOPC. The IOPC has been contacted for comment.
