Emma Roberts has faced an intense backlash online as people accused the actress of "selling her soul".

The 32-year-old has been criticised for "supporting industries built on exploitation" as she took to Instagram to promote her latest brand collaboration.

In a video shared on social media, Emma took fans behind-the-scenes of her morning routine as she made herself an iced coffee before enjoying yoga with her dogs.

She wore grey lounge pants and a casual black T-shirt as she went about her day in her luxurious home.

In a voiceover, Emma said: "Hey guys. I wanted to show you how I make my iced lattes with whole milk."

"And on top of that, and most importantly, I'm a mom and keeping mine and my son's immune system healthy is important to me.

"So milk not only helps me stay active, but it provides vitamins for my son."

In the caption, she wrote: "Fun fact!! I've been a lifelong milk drinker because of its essential nutrients that many milk alternatives don't have, and not to mention it tastes delicious esp in my latte! #ad @gonnaneedmilk #gonnaneedmilk."

Her followers quickly took to the comments, which have now been turned off, to share their views.

"No mention of the environmental impact or consideration for mother cows who have their babies torn away from them. Choose compassion. Stop supporting industries built on exploitation and suffering," one person wrote.

Another said: "Emma done sold her soul to big dairy," while a third commented: "Animals tortured and die for this."

"I know they invested some big [cash] for this ad. Congrats," one of Emma's followers quipped, with another adding: "Getting that BIG MILK money."

Emma seemed to be ignoring the haters as she later took to her Instagram Story to share a snap of a cute handbag with her signature on.
