Nuclear bomber jet flanked by six NATO fighters in show of strength to Putin
The dramatic moment a US nuclear bomber were flanked by NATO fighters in a show of strength to Vladimir Putin was caught on camera.
Jets from Spain, Italy and Romania flanked the bombers in a V-formation in the footage released by NATO today
Spanish F-18s, Romanian F-16s and Italian typhoons joined the display.
NATO said: "Get a cockpit view of the US Air Force B-52 Stratofortress bombers working with NATO Allies during a recent mission over Europe.
"The B-52s are training with Allied Air Forces during their BTF (Bomber Task Force) mission strengthening our Euro-Atlantic partnership."

The show of strength comes after Kremlin fighters intercepted two B-52 bombers over the Baltic Sea last week.
'B-52s are training with Allied Air Forces during their BTF (Bomber Task Force),' NATO said (NATO_AIRCOM/Twitter)The drone crashed in the Black Sea after a Russian jet dumped fuel on it, news of which broke on Thursday last week.
Earlier in March, Russia dumped fuel onto a MQ9 reaper drone which the US said it downed after a Russian jet collided with its propeller wing.

Russia denied coming into contact with the drone and said it malfunctioned when it came down near Russian-occupied crime on March 14.

The US military called it an "unsafe and unprofessional act by the Russians" and National Security Council spokesman John Kirby called it "reckless."
A war of words also erupted between Russia and the UK as the Kremlin accused Britain of triggering “genocide” by supplying Ukraine with depleted uranium tank shells.

Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova then said: "The use of ammunition with depleted uranium is a manifestation of the genocide of the population against which it is used and the people who use them."

Junior Defence Minister Baroness Goldie said in the House of Lords on Monday that the shells would be provided because they are "highly effective in defeating modern tanks and armoured vehicles."
