Australia will have to find a way to contain a ‘superhuman’ Harry Brook when he takes his Ashes bow this summer.

Not because he has scored more hundreds in his first six matches than even the legendary Sir Donald Bradman managed to.

It is simply because Ben Stokes will be pumping him and his team-mates up to believe they can do anything when they take the field, and coming from a man who has been there and done just that against the Aussies it will have an impact.

“It’s going to be a great summer of cricket,” said MLB Ambassador Brook. “If selected, it’s going to be so good, I’m really looking forward to it.

“I'm just following orders and Stokesy is leading at the minute. The way he's going out and playing his cricket is so good to watch. And it's not like we're just going out and slogging, there is method behind the madness.

“Obviously we’re scoring at a quick rate but I don't feel like I'm going to get out, I feel like I’ve been pumped up with so much confidence going out before I feel like I can do anything, and when we're out there we feel like we're superhuman.

“Stokesy’s definitely leading from the front. There's been a few dodgy dismissals but if the captain’s getting out in funky ways as well then it doesn't really matter, does it?”

Just like Stokes, Brook is a rare triple threat across all formats and after collecting his first World Cup he now has designs on becoming an Ashes winner, which would mean just as much if not more.

And get on Jessop watch too. The fastest England men’s Test hundred remains Gilbert Jessop’s 76-ball effort in the 1902 Ashes, a landmark that has been threatening to fall, and surely must do soon.

“I’d never heard of him until the series in Pakistan,” admitted Brook. “Who did he get it against? (Australia) Jeez, were there no fielders?

“Test cricket is the pinnacle of cricket and there’s no better format at the minute I don’t think. The way that we're playing the game as well, I think we're bringing more crowds and people wanting to watch us more, so win or lose I think it is going to be really good to watch.

“The World Cup win is definitely my highlight so far. It was so good, I can’t describe what that feeling was afterwards. Obviously we’ve got the Ashes coming up, and if we get a win there that could be a close contender.”
