A$AP Rocky has been ordered to attend court for a hearing which will determine if the rapper will stand trial for allegedly shooting his former friend A$AP Relli, according to reports.

Back in August, the 34-year-old pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault with a firearm, following an incident in Los Angeles in November 2021.

During the incident, the rapper, real name Rakim Mayers, is alleged to have pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the victim before allegedly firing it in his direction in a subsequent confrontation.

Mayers faces up to four years in prison on each count if convicted.

He had been out on $550,000 (£452,000) bail, but was reportedly not present at a Los Angeles criminal court on Tuesday.

According to the Daily Mail, Judge Kerry White scheduled a preliminary hearing to be held on June 5.

During the 2021 altercation, Mayers is said to have injured A$AP Relli's hand.

A$AP Relli, real name Terrell Ephron, filed a civil assault and battery lawsuit against Mayers, with his lawyers saying he was "in fear for his life".

In legal documents obtained by the PA news agency, lawyers for Relli said Mayer’s conduct had been "extreme and outrageous" and had caused their client to suffer "extreme emotional distress".

Ephron has requested damages of $25,000 (£20,600) over the incident, plus additional damages to cover his medical bills.

Mayers was arrested in April last year at LAX airport after returning from a holiday to Barbados with his partner Rihanna.

In August last year, Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon decided the charges were serious enough to press for felony status, rather than misdemeanour.

"Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offense that could have ended with tragic consequences not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood.

"My office conducted a thorough review not the evidence in this case and determined that the addition of a special firearm allegation was warranted," he said after announcing the changes.

Mayers was also given a restraining order, which states he must stay 100 yards away from Ephron at all times.
