Aaron Rodgers could be about to move to the New York Jets

If there was still any lingering doubt about the future of Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers president Mark Murphy may have just settled it.

After meeting with the New York Jets this week, a trade for Aaron Rodgers looks to be close as the quarterback remains 'open' to the move, and the Packers are seemingly happy to grant it. The Packers said they will only negotiate with the Jets, and once again everything hinges on what Rodgers wants to do.

The Jets have gone all-in to secure Rodgers, and the Packers are hoping to create a 'win-win' situation for all parties involved. It's rare that their president speaks out on trade rumours, but his comments suggest that the trade may be all but done.

Murphy attended the WIAA girls' basketball state tournament on Friday, but reporters couldn't help but ask the Packers president about the ongoing Rodgers situation. Rodgers spoke to the Jets over the phone on Monday, and then held talks in person the following day after being granted permission by the Packers.

The president confirmed that they'd agreed to let Rodgers negotiate with the Jets, but also spoke about whether there's a scenario who could still be with the Packers next season. "Yeah. I mean, unless if things don't work out the way we would want, yeah," Murphy said.

"He's obviously a great player. Four-time MVP. But I think it's trying to find what he wants and what we want, and hopefully, we can find a win-win situation."

Murphy was then pressed for details about the imminent trade, but stressed he couldn't reveal much at this moment in time. "I can't get into all the details," Murphy told Action 2 Sports’ Adriana Torres at the tournament.

"But it's a situation where I think we wanted to help Aaron achieve what he wanted, as well as the Packers, and hopefully create a situation where it's kind of a win for both sides. Aaron had a great career here and regardless of what happens, you know, Aaron will be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

"He'll be in our Hall of Fame. We'll bring him back and retire his number, but this is just one of the things that you go through as a team, and again, we want to try to achieve something that's good for both Aaron and us."
