A “devastated” Cadbury fan accidentally scoffed a prize winning Creme Egg in moments, not realising he'd just eaten what could have earned him £10,000.

Adam Davis was sitting in his van last week as he was chowing down on a snack.

Coincidentally filming himself at the time, the Brit from Sevenoaks, Kent was “too hungry” to clock the different colours of the Cadbury’s Creme Egg.

Instead he ate the gooey snack in moments and moved on, oblivious to the fact he had just swallowed £10,000 - and Adam isn't the only Brit to do this.

It wasn’t until friends later pointed out the odd colouring in the video that Adam clocked he’d gobbled down his cash prize.

Cadbury has relaunched its Creme Egg hunt, hiding 280 half white, half milk chocolate eggs across the UK.

If one Brit is lucky enough to stumble across one of the rare eggs, like Adam did, they could claim a £10k prize.

But Adam wasn’t too down about eating thousands of pounds.

Adam, of Sevenoaks, Kent, said: "I didn't notice as it didn't taste any different to me. I was just hungry. I don't feel too bad about eating it.

"I mean who else can say they ate ten grand in 30 seconds. Money comes and goes but a story of an epic fail lasts a lifetime.”

But he did concede: "But yeah obviously the money would've been nice.”

Despite missing his big chance Adam now wants the rules rewritten for him and is pleading with the chocolate giant for some of the prize money.

But he admitted the company wasn’t at fault.

Adam added: "Cadbury should give me at least some of the prize money as a consolation prize. When you think about it it's one less egg that someone else can find.

"To be fair though I had no idea the competition even existed so it's certainly not their fault. And if I had realised and sent it to them, there's every chance it would've been lost in the post anyway."
