Major Bollywood stars are coming to the UK for a massive new two day festival this summer.

Bollywood Leicester will be headlined by Indian singer Mika Singh and musical duo Vishal–Shekhar.

The event is set to take place on the first weekend of July, right in the centre of England.

It will bring together Bollywood singers, dancers and comedians for a two day event at Mattioli Woods Stadium, the home of Leicester Tigers Rugby Club.

Other acts to perform at the event include Navin Kundra, Rekha, The Quickstyle, VP Bhangra Dance Band and comedians Neville Shah and Sumukhi Suresh.

Local talent and additional performers are still to be announced, with an expected crowd of 30,000 over the weekend.

Gareth Roberts, Director of Bollywood Events Group Limited, said: "There are a lot of followers of Bollywood in the UK, and there is a real appetite for something like this.

"There isn't a two day festival of Bollywood."

Mark Sales, also Director of Bollywood Events Group Limited, added: "They [ Bollywood stars] perform a lot in the Middle East but I don't think the UK is a big destination yet.

"We are hoping as this grows, we will keep the top acts coming because the aim is next year's one will be better than this one and so on."

The event will take place in the rugby stadium, with both pitch and seating tickets being sold at £58 per day as well as a golden circle option.

Vishal–Shekhar will perform on the Saturday, whilst Mika Singh, who has hits Bas Ek King and Mauja Hi Mauja, will perform on the Sunday.

Andrea Pinchen, CEO at Leicester Tigers said: “We are so excited to have Mattioli Woods Welford Road host Bollywood Leicester in the summer.

"The multicultural influences throughout our city are what makes it not only so unique but equally so, makes you so proud to be a part of and we are confident this event will add so much to Leicester.

"Mattioli Woods Welford Road has hosted many, many memorable moments in its almost 150 year history and we will now, excitingly, add the inaugural Bollywood Leicester event to that list!”

On what to expect during the festival, Mark explained: "An amazing show. If you have ever watched Bollywood or ever listened to Bollywood, the music makes you want to party.

"It makes you want to dance, jump around and enjoy yourself.

"To come and have an experience of a whole day of music, comedy, dance and food will be an all around amazing afternoon."

Talk has already turned to next year's event, with organisers claiming the lineup will just get bigger each year.

Mark said: "We are already working for next year's one and are already in discussion with acts in India.

"These acts [appearing at this year's event] are good, but the other acts we are talking to, they are wild."

The festival will run from 4pm till 10pm both days, with doors opening from 2pm.

The first allocation of tickets for Bollywood Leicester will go on sale, at 9am on Friday 10th March.

They can be purchased via the Leicester Tigers website, at
