The queens of Coronation Street were out on the town for Alison King's birthday, looking very glamorous.

Alison, who plays Carla Connor, celebrated her 50th birthday with leading ladies from the soap, as they enjoyed a few drinks.

Sami Longchambon, who portrays Maria Connor on Corrie, took to her Instagram to share a photo of herself, Julia Goulding, Alison, Jane Danson, Tina O'Brien and Georgia Taylor beaming for the camera at a bear, with a city skyline in the background.

Samia captioned the photo: "Celebrated our awesome Ali Kings’ birthday with these queens last night."

Fans gushed to praise the group, with one saying: "My favourite group of actresses all together!!!! where’s Maureen???"

Another simply called the photo "fabulous", while others rushed to wish Ali happy birthday.

Julia, who plays Shona Platt, has returned to the soap after maternity leave.

Shone left the cobbles in January to take her stepdaughter Lily to London for a football training camp but returned amidst Max's sentencing over a stabbing at Speed Daal.

Speaking to What to Watch, Julia, who gave birth to her second child in November, said it was wonderful to be back to work.

“My husband is on paternity leave as we’re doing shared parental leave, so I get to come to work and have an actual hot cup of tea without having a child hanging off me.

“‘It’s really nice to be able to sit in the green room and have a brew and a conversation. Not that I don’t absolutely love being at home, because I do… But it’s nice to have that brew!”

Julia, who was already mum to son Franklin Wolf, revealed in November that she and husband Ben Silver have welcomed a baby girl, who they’ve named Emmeline Beanie Silver.

The star shared the happy news on Instagram with a picture of her and Ben leaving the hospital with their newborn, alongside the caption: “On Saturday our little girl arrived.

“We’re absolutely elated and Franklin is besotted with his little sister, Emmeline Beanie Silver. She’s perfect.”

In one episode, Shona wandered downstairs wrapped in a duvet, announcing to her husband David, played by Jack P Shepherd, that she was having a duvet week, instead of a duvet day.

Shona as a character has gone through some huge changes over the last few years after being shot in 2019, resulting in her suffering from memory loss and having to remember who David was and fall in love with him again.

"I think where's she settled right now is wonderful," she said. "There are some elements of the old Shona there with hints of the new Shona there as well. So it's a really nice contrast. Also, it is so much fun to be that blunt! Because I couldn't be in real life!
