Masked Singer's Katherine Ryan gives Jacket Potato clue after losing sing -off

Katherine Ryan has revealed her guesses at who her fellow secret celebrities on The Masked Singer are after she was revealed as Pigeon on the ITV singing competition.

The 39-year-old comedian was revealed as the character on Saturday evening’s show, after weeks of putting fans off the scent by adopting an Essex accent.

Katherine had the judging panel completely fooled, with most convinced it was either Gemma Collins or Stacey Solomon as the rapping grandmother character.

The Canadian comedian, who gave birth to her third child in December, said that a big part of why she chose her puffed up Pigeon costume was its ability to disguise her baby bump.

However, her pipes weren’t enough this weekend as she landed in the bottom two alongside Jacket Potato, who the judges Davina McCall, Jonathon Ross, Rita Ora and Mo Gilligan ultimately decided to save instead.

Reflecting on the decision as the eliminated star spoke to The Mirror and other press, Katherine said: “I am respectful of democracy and I feel like if the panel decided Jacket Potato is better than me, then Jacket Potato was better than me.”

She then teased on the husky singer’s identity: “I think Jacket Potato might be a superstar, a rock star, and they have to keep Jacket Potato.”

Katherine went on to share her guesses on other characters on the show, as she said she thinks she recognises Phoenix’s voice.

She said: “Because I'm a fan of the Kaiser Chiefs, I feel like that sounds like Ricky Wilson. I don't know that for sure.”

Turning to Otter, she noted the character is ‘really funny’, which was initially a source of competition in her eyes.

“I know there have been guesses that she's a comedian,” Katherine said, “but I can't put my finger on which comedian that would be.

“I don't have any guesses but I feel almost competitive about that. Like my competition was, is Pigeon funnier than Otter?

“And it really, really riles me up when people would say how funny Otter was. I was like, who is she?

“But female comedians really champion each other so now I want Otter to win.”

Katherine added that Jellyfish has to be an ‘amazing’ singer from the US, suggesting a star along the lines of Jennifer Hudson.

She added: “I thought for a while that either Fawn or Knitting might actually be Cheryl. And then I went – No, if I'm doing a terrible rendition of a Cheryl song in front of Cheryl that will be the end of me.”

The Masked Singer was the highest rated show on linear on Saturday night with a peak of over 5 million viewers and a share of 29.4 percent.
