You could stay in retreats under the water, remote desert lodges and a cabin built into the treetops.

A new Channel 4 show World's Most Secret Hotels is poised to show its first episode on Sunday, January 29, at 6.45pm.

As the title makes clear, the programme will shine a spotlight on some of the most stunning hotels and resorts which have gained a reputation for staying out of it.

Channel 4 promises the show will "explore the most hidden and remote hotels on the planet".

These also include Britain's most remote mainland hotel, a former decoy bunker in Wales that has been converted into a luxury abode, and the highest mountaintop hotel in Europe.

The Decoy Bunker in Monmouthshire is an underground structure that was built during World War II as a decoy airfield, designed to confuse German bombers.

It is a large concrete structure that is partially buried in the ground and is roughly the size of a football pitch.

Having served its original purpose, the bunker is now a protected monument and is open to the public as a luxury hotel.

Wadi Rum Bubble Loxotel in Jordan offers a unique hotel experience that combines the beauty of the desert with the comfort of modern amenities.

It is located deep in the Jordanian desert, offering stunning views of the surrounding sand dunes and the Wadi Rum Valley.

The Garvault in Kinbrace Village is the most remote hotel in mainland Britain.

"While the isolation might be a tonic for weary travellers, we discover how running this six-bedroom hotel is a challenging operation here, made harder by the fact that it is completely cut off from the national power grid and water board," Channel 4 has said.

The hotel is located in the North Highlands of Scotland surrounded by rolling hills and lush green meadows.

The area is also home to a range of wildlife, including birds and deer. The nearby River Shin provides an excellent opportunity for fishing and kayaking.

The Tower at RAF Wainfleet, Skegness, is a Grade II listed building located within a bombing range.

Visitors can sleep in a Jetstream passenger plane or a decommissioned Lynx helicopter that’s now luxury accommodation.

Caerwenfor Cottage in Wales is is surrounded by rolling hills, stunning views and tranquil farmland, making it the perfect place to get away from it all and relax.

What makes it particularly interesting is the fact that it is sunk into cliffs formed more than 500million years ago.

It sits some 300 metres above the sea on a giant cliff top between Llangrannog and Cwmtydu.

The Harlingen Harbour Crane Hotel in the Netherlands is a giant piece of docking equipment which has been converted into a luxury hotel for two people.

The crane is 30 metres high, and the room is located at the top of the crane, providing stunning views of the harbour and the surrounding area.

It is equipped with a double bed, a kitchenette, a bathroom and a terrace, as well as a private lift which takes guests to the top of the crane.

Treehotel in Harads Village, Swedish Lapland hotel boasts five treehouses designed by different artists, all of which are suspended amongst the trees.

All of the treehouses offer spectacular views of the surrounding forest and mountains, while the hotel features a restaurant serving a variety of local dishes, and a spa with a sauna, jacuzzi and massage services.
