Wally Campo has died three months shy of his 100th birthday

Wally Campo has died of natural causes at the age of 99, his son has confirmed.

The actor, who was in a number of movies directed by Burt Topper and Roger Corman, was best known for his part in the original Little Shop Of Horrors movie.

The production from 1960 saw Wally take on a dual role for the film which later turned into a hugely successful musical.

He was tasked with narrating the picture and also appeared as Sergeant Joe Fink, who was one of the police to try to uncover the murderous secret which was at the heart of the storyline.

In a statement announcing his death to The Hollywood Reporter, son Tony Campodonico said his father passed away on January 14. Tony kept his father's initial surname.

His death comes just three months before his centenary year. His impressive CV included credits in Monte Hellman's Beast From Haunted Cave, Tank Commandos and The Strangler.

He also featured in Roger Corman's Machine Gun Kelly in 1958, which starred Charles Bronson in his first lead role.

And he also led the cast of Topper's debut film titled Hell Squad. In it, Wally was one of the American servicemen who fall prey to the Nazi Afrika Korps after ending up lost in Tunisia.

Following the news of Wally's death, fans took to social media to pay their respects. One user wrote: "Sad to hear, Wally Campo has passed away."

Another added: "Farewell to Wally Campo, sensational supporting actor, especially in the Roger Corman factory. He was Sergeant Joe Fink (and the film's narrator) from LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, and was in the 'Black Cat' segment of HORROR STORIES, also by Corman."

A third also said: "R.I.P. Wally Campo."

As well as son Tony, Wally is survived by daughter-in-law Cheryl and his grandkids Laurena and Jade.
