Kerry Katona tells Molly-Mae to change baby Bambi's name over school bully fears
Kerry Katona has blasted Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury over their baby name choice and admitted she "isn't a fan".
Former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry, 42,urged new parents Molly-Mae and Tommy, both 23, to change their daughter's name and warned she risks "getting stick" in school over the moniker.
The Love Island couple announced the arrival of their baby daughter in a touching post on Instagram last Monday, after Jake Paul leaked the news that Molly-Mae had given birth, and a day later unveiled the unique name they have chosen for their tot.
As she posted a photo of the newborn in her cot – which fans have discovered retails at £8,000 – Molly-Mae revealed the name she and Tommy had chosen as she included a neon sign in the picture, which read 'Bambi'.
She then simply wrote the newborn's name in the caption followed by a white heart emoji.
Molly-Mae hints at showing baby in her first YouTube as she teases special videoMolly-Mae's name reveal has divided fans – which could have sparked her to turn the comments on the post off as the option to comment on the post was removed shortly after the image was shared.
And now, Kerry has weighed in on the debate. Writing in her latest OK! magazine column, the TV personality shared she wasn't a fan of the name.
"Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury announced the birth of their daughter last week. It’s lovely news, but I must admit I’m not a fan of the name," she said.
"I think Bambi Fury sounds a bit ridiculous. It reminds me of the Disney film where the mother gets shot! The poor kid might get some stick in school."
Kerry then added: "If they haven’t registered the name yet, maybe they should consider changing it. But each to their own…"
It comes after Molly-Mae revealed she knew fans would either "love or hate" the name before making the big reveal and said she had the name picked out since she was a child.
She previously said: "It's not made up, it's totally not made up, I can't explain it. It's just not a name that's ever been used before. It's very very different and rare and you're either going to love it or hate it."
Despite fans being split, Molly-Mae revealed her beau Tommy 'loved' the name when she told him of her hopes to name her tot Bambi.
She added: "I've had the name picked out since I was a baby girl myself. It's always been a dream baby girl name and luckily when I met Tommy and I told him the name I've always dreamt of using, he absolutely loved it too.
"It's a really really unusual and a different name, I do not know anybody else with the name. I've not seen any other girls with the name before, it's that different."
Molly Mae's baby name's very simple meaning as fans divided on Disney monikerMolly-Mae and Tommy recently sparked another parenting debate as they posed in a photo with their newborn daughter wearing a snowsuit while strapped in her carseat.
As the former Love Island star posted the photo, Safe In Their Seat, a car seat advice specialist and retailer, commented on the snap: "Usually celebs aren’t willing to take on board any info for some reason or simply don’t see it as they have thousands of other comments.
"Hopefully she will see this and reach out or find advice. The snowsuit is not safe, not only is it affecting the harness but it’s also a huge overheating risk."
