Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has warned title rivals Arsenal that there will be plenty of 'twists and turns' before the season's end.

Both Pep Guardiola's side and the Gunners suffered defeats last weekend, with City losing 1-0 away at Tottenham while Arsenal succumbed to the same scoreline at Everton. As a result, Mikel Arteta's men maintain their five point lead at the top of the table courtesy of their local rivals doing them a favour and beating City.

Despite this, many still tip City for what would be a fifth title in six seasons and Walker's most recent comments certainly read as a warning for the Gunners. It is of course City who boast the more recent experience of what it feels like to be in a title race.

"Of course it is [a missed opportunity]," the England international admitted to Sky Sports following defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. "They dropped points and we needed to pick up points to close the gap, but there is still a lot of football to be played.

"I have been here many, many years in the Premier League and I know the twists and turns that can happen. I know what this team is about. I know what this team can do. We can go on runs from now until the end of the season and it’s just about us doing that really."

For City to stand the best chance of catching the Gunners, it is likely that they will need talismanic forward Erling Haaland to be firing on all cylinders.

City midfielder Rodri discussed the Norwegian superstar before the trip to North London and made the bold claim that Haaland could net a goal in every single game between now and the rest of the season as well as echoing Walker's sentiments when it comes to City's experience.

"We feel like we have a weapon to fear the opponents," the Spaniard explained.

"Of course, we have switched different things to the way we used to play before, before we didn’t have this weapon and now he is always a guarantee of scoring goals - and I think he can score more than one goal in every game.

"At the end, we have the experience and we know that this is very normal. We know the level of the league and that every game is a final."

Up next for City is a home clash with Unai Emery's Aston Villa, where Arsenal will be hoping another familiar face does them a favour and springs a surprise at the Etihad.

The Gunners welcome Brentford to the Emirates on Saturday, before next Wednesday sees the two title rivals meet in the league for the first time this season.

The clash in the capital, under the lights with the nation watching, promises to be a season-defining contest for both.
