Arsenal eye £20million Juventus bargain as Ivan Fresneda transfer clue dropped
Arsenal have already enjoyed an extremely busy January transfer window with big money having already been spent.
Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior have both completed moves to the Emirates Stadium for a combined £48million - the pair having joined from Brighton and Spezia respectively. Despite that outlay, the North London side do not appear to be quite finished there.
With a few days remaining of the current window, the Gunners could be set to turn to the market once more as they attempt to continue their challenge for the Premier League crown throughout the second-half of the campaign. Here are the latest rumours coming out of the Emirates Stadium...
Gunners eye Chiesa swoop
Arsenal have reportedly put Juventus star Federico Chiesa at the top of their shortlist as they attempt to take advantage of the Italian side’s recent plight. The Serie A giants have been deducted 15 points - a punishment that could see them miss out on a place in next season’s Champions League.
As per CalcioMercato, Italian wideman Chiesa is at the top of Mikel Arteta’s shortlist ahead of the summer window. It is suggested that he could potentially cost as little as £17.6million due to Juve’s financial difficulties.
Chelsea complete record-breaking Enzo Fernandez transfer after deadline day rushThe Gunners could potentially face competition for Chiesa’s services with both Real Madrid and Premier League rivals Liverpool having previously been linked with him. The Italian, 25, has two-and-a-half years left on his current contract.
Ivan Fresneda clue dropped
Whilst Chiesa has been linked with making a summer switch to Arsenal, one of the Gunners’ winter targets in Real Valladolid defender Ivan Fresneda. The Gunners are competing with Borussia Dortmund for his signature.
A £13m offer has been touted as being enough to tempt the Spanish side into a sale and a clue has been dropped that he could soon be on his way. As per Marca, Fresneda missed the club’s latest training session.
Officially, he was noted to be “absent with discomfort”, whether that means an injury or the prospect of a potential move remains to be seen.

Arteta eyes midfield cover
Arsenal boss Arteta has revealed that he intends on adding another midfielder to his side amid the injury suffered by Mohamed Elneny. Speaking in a press conference on Wednesday, he said: “Well, we need some more cover in midfield ideally if we can
“In this market, it’s pretty complicated to do that. The most important thing is that we get the performances and the time on the pitch that we need with the players we have available today that are already really good.”
The Gunners have been linked with moves for Moises Caicedo and Amadou Onana from Brighton and Everton respectively although it remains to be seen if the Gunners are capable of completing deals for either of the pair.
