Madonna shocked fans with an almost 'unrecognisable' look during Sunday night's Grammy Awards - with some claiming she had a 'new face'.

The legendary singer has constantly revamped her look during her incredible 40-year music career, but really surprised people with her youthful appearance at the annual awards ceremony in LA.

Her lips appeared plumped and pouty and her skin was smooth and without wrinkles, while also styling her hair with two plaits at the front and back.

The Queen of Pop, whose debut studio album was released in 1983, has seemingly frozen time as she looks just as sensational as she did in her early years.

However, some fans have claimed the 64-year-old hitmaker is "not the same person" in recent pics, particularly after a topless snap last year.

So, has the Like A Virgin singer ever gone under the knife?

Face

Despite much speculation, Madonna has never admitted to having any work done - and doesn't like being asked about it.

"I am certainly not against plastic surgery," the Material Girl singer said in 2012. "However, I am absolutely against having to discuss it."

However, many industry experts suspect that Madonna has recieved numerous cosmetic procedures on her face, such as collagen implants, Botox and facial peels.

Closer Magazine columnist, Amar Suchde told glowday.com that she believes Madonna's face has taken on a more youthful 'upside down triangle' shape, the opposite of what usually happens when we age.

She said: "I'd say Madonna has definitely had some skin boosters to improve her skin quality, something like Profhilo, or perhaps laser treatments.

"She's definitely looked after her skin which is making her look younger - these skin treatments avoid that creepy skin look people tend to get, when they lose collagen and elastin in their face, as they age."

Another person who agrees is Dr Jason Diamond, who is best known for appearing on Netflix show 'Celebrity Plastic Surgeons'.

"It's unnatural, squarish and mannish. Instead of making it flush, they overfilled it," said Dr. Reed of Madonna’s look.

"The chin to the jawbone should be a smooth transition — they added too much. This is a case of injections gone bad. It’s not going to kill her, but does she look normal with those puffs? This looks bizarre — she looks jowly and puffed out."

When Madonna uploaded some raunchy new pics in February last year, some compared the music icon to reality star Kim Kardashian.

"She doesn't even look like the same person.. way too much work done on her face," wrote one person, with another suggesting it was down to "filler".

Another added: "Omg now even Madonna looks like a Kardashian."

"Clearly some kind of "work" been done but not breath work lol," said a third, while a fourth simply asked: "What happened to Madonna??

"She's unrecognizable," exclaimed another, while one follower said she was "aging backwards".

According to Dr Esho and his A-list team of doctors at ESHO MD clinics, Madonna has been getting a combination of surgical and non surgical cosmetic procedures for quite some time.

"I suspect she's been having subtle work done for over 20 years so her current look is an amalgamation of those procedures, both surgical and non-surgical," he said.

Dr Natalie Tabares noted that "if you look closely, there were changes in photos starting her later 20s".

She told the Daily Star: "One of the first changes I noticed where that her brows position became higher on the face and definitely telling of a brow lift."

As well as a brow lift, Dr Diane Lyon believes that Madonna's youthful appearance in her social media pictures comes from a combination of fillers and filters.

She said: "Looking at her face she’s definitely got full cheeks, which could be due to either fat transfers from other areas of the body or filler, which can be put there in an effort to anti-age.

"This, in condition with using filters when she takes photos, results in the image you see."

Bum

There has also been rumours that Madonna had bum implants put in following her performance on New Year's Eve 2019 at New York's Stonewall Inn.

The procedure improves the size, shape and contour of the bum, and improve the tone of the underlying tissue that supports skin and fat in your bottom.

While there is a risk with any type of surgery, bum enhancements are believed to have higher risks than most cosmetic procedures.

Responding to claims that she'd had bum implants in 2019, Madonna shared a post saying: "Desperately seeking no ones approval…and entitled to free agency over my body like everyone else!"

Madonna's look has divided a lot of people - but has always been praised for how great her body looks.

The Material Girl singer attracted criticism for posting graphic snaps of her nipples and her bum in bondage-style lingerie while lying on a bed last November.

She wrote: "I'm reposting photographs Instagram took down without warning or notification…..

"The reason they gave my management that does not handle my account was that a small portion of my nipple was exposed.

"It is still astounding to me that we live in a culture that allows every inch of a woman’s body to be shown except a nipple."

The Papa Don't Preach singer went on: "As if that is the only part of a woman’s anatomy that could be sexualized. The nipple that nourishes the baby!"

Madonna then reposted the images, but with her nipple covered with an emoji in several of the shots.

One person who wasn't impressed was presenter Lorraine Kelly, who branded Madonna's pics as "sleazy".

Speaking on her ITV show, Lorraine said: "She's in great shape, but I think, well I think they look pretty sleazy, but that's just me. I don't know what you think.

"Anyway, sorry. I do. I know it's like, 'Oh no! Don't say that! But I just... yeah. She's fantastic, but she doesn't look good."

However, Loose Women's Nadia Sawalha heaped praise on the Material Girl singer.

Her initial reaction was: "Oh no no no, you're 62, why am I seeing your bum bum? You know, it just feels so wrong."

But after taking a minute, answering a side-point, she completely U-turned on her take adding: "I went to the classic response then thought why am I thinking like that?

''She's got a great figure. This is very her thing - this is very Madonna. Ans actually when I read her post I thought every word she said was incredible.''
