Wrexham host Gateshead in the National League on Tuesday, and the Welsh side's Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have mocked their opponents ahead of the game by pretending to look the side up on Wikipedia beforehand.

The Welsh side have the opportunity to go top of the National League on Tuesday night, and there's a real sense of belief that this could be the year they break into the Football League. Gateshead are at the wrong end of the table though, and could be facing relegation if results don't improve.

But ahead of their next meeting, Reynolds and McElhenney commentated over promotional video advertising Tuesday's game. They discussed Wrexham's last 3-1 win over Gateshead, and mocked their opponents to really rub it in. And they've done so again ahead of Tuesday's clash, but poked fun at Gateshead while doing so. The last time they met was back in August 2022, when Wrexham won 3-1 against their opposition who were reduced to 10 men.

Reynolds tweeted the promotional video on Monday, and captioned the clip: "The best way to get over a case of the Mondays? Watch Gateshead FC vs Wrexham AFC on TUESDAY." And both Reynolds and McElhenney narrated the video with some hilarious commentary.

"Previously on Gateshead vs Wrexham, we won 3-1 against a ten-man side," McElhenney recapped. "Louis Storey was booked twice in the first half. Maybe he left early to check out one of Gateshead's many famous bridges, including the Millennium Bridge."

At that point, Reynolds interjected by joking: "Did you just scrub Wikipedia for a bunch of facts about Gateshead?" with McElhenney responding: "No, Gateshead, population 196,100, will be trying to battle their way out of the relegation zone. Wrexham can take top spot in the league which will be good. And final fact - one that's actually useful, you can tune in to on January 24th to watch the Red Dragons live on nationalleaguetv.com."

The pair have been excellent for Wrexham and raising awareness for the National League, and would be even more blockbuster in the Football League. They have a long-term plan, but after trash talking they'll be hoping Wrexham can win on Tuesday.

Wrexham has gone from a bit hitter in Wales, to a worldwide phenomenon, mainly due to the takeover of Hollywood stars Reynolds and McElhenney back in 2021. They now have a large cult following overseas, with many North American fans claiming they support Wrexham after watching a series released on Disney +.

Welcome to Wrexham has been a huge success on the streaming platform, and now viewers tune in from all across the globe to watch fifth-tier English football. Reynolds and McElhenney regularly promote all things Wrexham, including where to watch their upcoming games.
