Woman, 35, found dead in Scotland as man arrested over "suspicious" death
A man has been arrested following the death of a woman at a home in the Scottish Borders.
Emergency services were called to a property on McLagan Drive in Hawick at around 7.20am on Wednesday after they were alerted to an incident.
A 35-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin has been made aware.
Detectives are treating the death as suspicious. Officers have arrested a 39-year-old man in connection with assault.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.20am on Thursday, June 25, 2026, we were called to the death of a 35-year-old woman at a property on McLagan Drive in Hawick. Next of kin is aware.
“The death is being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing.
“A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with assault and enquiries are ongoing.”
