Lotte Wubben-Moy made a heart-warming gesture for Arsenal fans who had travelled to Brighton after their Women's Super League fixture was called off.

Arsenal's trip to the Broadfield Stadium in Crawley was postponed with two hours to go until the evening kick-off. Many fans had already travelled down for the game by the time match officials decided the pitch was unplayable.

But some of the Arsenal supporters were given a nice surprise in one of the local pubs however after the Gunners defender decided to made a kind gesture. Wubben-Moy left money behind the bar for them to at least enjoy their evening despite the lack of WSL action.

Wubben-Moy tweeted: "To anyone at the New Moon Pub in Crawley … @ArsenalWomenSC.

"I have put some money behind the bar for you all. Get a cranberry juice and crisps on me. Enjoy the men’s game.

"Sorry about our postponed game. Changes need to be made. They will be made. In the meantime, stay hydrated."

One fan replied with a tweet showing their appreciation, a video showing Arsenal fans gathered in the New Moon chanting Wubben-Moy's name and enjoying their drinks. With plenty of beer on display Wubben-Moy's teammate Katie McCabe quipped: "that doesn't look like cranberry juice," in her reply on twitter.

Former England and Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster showed his public appreciation for the gesture. Foster posted: "Lotte!!!" along with three applause emojis. Plenty of other supporters at the New Moon thanked Wubben-Moy directly on twitter.

The fans at least got to see Arsenal's men's side beat Manchester United 3-2 in the Premier League and stay warm in the pub before making their way home. Arsenal's game was the third WSL fixture of the weekend to be called off.

The lunchtime clash between Chelsea and Liverpool did kick off at Kingsmeadow. But with players immediately struggling for grip the referee abandoned the match after just eight minutes of play.

Tottenham's game with Leicester at Brisbane Road was also postponed, although at least fans were given fair warning on that one, with the announcement coming the day before the game. The only WSL games that did go ahead on Sunday came at Reading and Everton.

Reading were able to call upon the Select Car Leasing Stadium's undersoil heating to help their game with Man Utd go ahead. Everton's game with West Ham also went ahead after they delayed kick-off to let the Walton Hall Park pitch thaw out.

Arsenal return to action on Thursday with a FA WSL Cup fourth-round clash against fellow WSL side Aston Villa and then face third-tier Leeds in the Women's FA Cup.
