UK flight diverted after chaotic mid-air fight leads to alleged crew attack

A flight from the UK to the Canary Islands was forced to land after chaotic onboard scenes allegedly resulted in a cabin crew member being attacked.

A flight from the UK was forced to land after a cabin crew member was allegedly attacked during a fight mid-air.

The crew asked for medical assistance and a police presence upon arrival. As reported by air traffic controllers on X, there was a fight during the journey, in which a cabin crew member was allegedly attacked. It is reported to have been a Jet2 flight.

The post on X said: "Incident on board a flight from Edinburgh arriving in South Tenerife. The crew requests medical assistance and police presence upon arrival for a fight where, apparently, they would have assaulted the TCP.

"We cut the approach to the maximum with priority."

The air traffic controllers offered support to the "crew and passengers" who have to "endure these unpleasant situations".

Earlier today, Edinburgh Airport was forced to ground departures after an IT issue. An announcement on social media this morning read: "Due to an IT issue with our air traffic control provider, no flights are currently operating from Edinburgh Airport."

Eventually, departures and arrivals were back up and running, but several flights were cancelled entirely. At about 10:40 am, the airport said: "Flights have now resumed following the IT issue with our air traffic control provider. We thank passengers for their patience and understanding."
