An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 struck western Turkey, The Washington Post reported.
There have been reports of damage, and the number of casualties is still being clarified.
The epicenter was located about 10 kilometers from the town of Sındırgı, with strong tremors felt in Istanbul, Izmir, Balıkesir, and several other regions across the country.
In several cities, buildings have collapsed, and there are disruptions to electricity and water supplies. Residents are leaving their homes, fearing aftershocks and further destruction, while emergency services are working at the scene.
