Santander announces closure of 95 branches in the UK

A major high street bank is closing more than a fifth of its branches across the UK.

Santander currently has 444 branches, but the bank announced this morning that it plans to close 95 of those.

A spokesperson told The Sun closing branches was a ‘difficult decision’ but it wanted to ensure its business is ‘fit for the future’.

Following the closures Santander said it will be left with 290 full-service branches, 36 branches with reduced hours, 18 counter-free branches, and five Work Cafes.
