Fyre Festival 2 confirmed as the fraudulent founder causes outrage with $1,000,000 tickets

Billy McFarland, the founder of the infamous 2017 Fyre Festival, has shocked the world by confirming a sequel event, Fyre Festival II.

The festival is scheduled to take place from May 30 to June 2, 2025, on Isla Mujeres, Mexico.

But, unbelievably, there are currently no artists confirmed to perform despite the quickly approaching kickoff date – something McFarland seems unconcerned about, telling Today, ‘I want to be one of the first festivals that can sell out with no artists.’

The ticket prices are staggering, with prices ranging from $1,400 (£1,108.57) to $1.1million (£871,021), for the highest level of luxury.

In the recent interview, McFarland emphasized that the new festival is not about revisiting past mistakes but about realising what he still believes is a strong vision.

‘We’re going to have artists across electronic, hip hop, pop and rock,’ McFarland said.

‘However, it’s not just music. We might have a professional skateboarder do a demonstration. We might have an MMA champion teach you techniques in the morning.’

McFarland has stated that he is not directly handling bookings but hopes to secure A-list talent for the event.

Additionally, it’s unclear whether the terms of his release from prison will permit him to travel internationally to attend the festival, so he may not even be on the island as the event unfolds.

The news has been met online with outrage and disbelief.

@elash0222 wrote: ‘Fyre festival is back yall. And there’s a package for over a million dollars  it’s giving SCAM!’

@TapahTTV agreed: ‘If you get scammed by Fyre Festival 2, you deserve it. So crazy that he gets out of prison and tries the EXACT same thing that got him in there in the first place and expect things to be different. ’

The original Fyre Festival in 2017 was widely criticized for inadequate accommodations and organization – with attendees eating plain cheese sandwiches and sleeping in FEMA tents – leading to McFarland serving four years in prison for fraud.

‘We are selling the experience of Fyre,’ McFarland insisted to Today of his upcoming second try.

He admitted in the interview that ‘there is a risk component to it’ for ticket-buyers.

But this time the entrepeneur has partnered with a production company and a ticketing company for Fyre 2: Electric Boogaloo, which is at least a minor improvement on the first outing.

‘It’s 2,000 people taking the risk, seeking the adventure, and wanting to be there for the moment,’ he said of prospective attendees.

‘My dream is finally becoming a reality,’ McFarland continued.

The convicted fraudster owes $26m (£20.6m) in restitution for Fyre Festival, and 10% of the profits from Fyre 2 will go toward making those payments, with a minimum of $500,000 (£395,918).

“My dream is finally becoming a reality,” McFarland told Today.
