The superyacht Ulysses, owned by New Zealand billionaire Graeme Hart, arrived at Plymouth’s Barbican on Monday, astonishing onlookers with its grandeur. The 103-meter vessel features its own pool, winter garden, and four hot tubs.

A superyacht the size of a football pitch which belongs to one of the world’s wealthiest men has been spotted at a UK docks.

The luxury vessel, named Ulysses, had eyes popping as it landed at Plymouth’s Barbican docks on Monday night. The 103m liner has previously been billed by yachting experts as the fourth largest ever built by Dutch manufacturers Feadship.

The £200m boat is reportedly owned by New Zealand’s wealthiest man, billionaire Graeme Hart, and boasts four exterior hot tubs, a winter garden, a swimming pool that covers the entire height of the main deck and a helicopter hangar concealed in the foredeck. It also features an incredible glass staircase, while its nine state rooms can host up to 20 guests and 30 crew.

Private equity firm billionaire Mr Hart, whose net worth is estimated at $9.7billion, is said to have been "closely involved in every detail of the [ship’s] build from the start to finish" when construction began in 2020. According to reports, the yacht is just one of 71 luxury motor yachts longer than 100m and costs an eye-watering US $250 million, with running costs of US $20-30 million.

Hart’s daughter Gretchen Hawkesby shared pictures of herself on a family trip to Amsterdam aboard the yacht back in November 2023, providing a glimpse of the vessel’s plush interiors. In one image, members of the family can be seen enjoying cocktails on board the boat on what she described as "whirlwind trip" to the Dutch capital for a "boat lunch".

It’s not the first time a superyacht has turned up at Plymouth’s landing dock. In September the city hosted the luxury £113m “mega-yacht” Le Dumont-d’Urville, Plymouth Live reports, while in October the city saw the arrival of the unusually named ’21.12’ superyacht - designed by Norweigan yacht designer Espen Øino and made by Damen Yachting in its yard in Vlissingen City, Netherlands. The same week the flash 56.7m-long Santosha amazed passers-by along Commercial Road with its sleek lines before it headed off to the Caribbean.

The New Zealand Herald reported that Hart left school at 16 and built a business empire. Rank Group, which Hart owns, houses businesses that operate internationally in the packaging, consumer goods and building supplies industries. Last year two listed United States companies majority-owned by Hart made a combined US$9.2 billion ($15b).
