Ken Flores has died aged 28 in the midst of his tour, Butterfly Effect.

The Chicago-based stand-up comedian was performing 33 dates across America. His next show was scheduled for this evening in Phoenix, Arizona.

His loved ones posted a statement on his official Instagram.

‘It is with great sadness that we confirm the untimely passing of our friend, brother, and son, Kenyi Flores,’ it began.

‘Please respect our privacy at this time as we are all shocked and devastated by this loss.’

TMZ reported that The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Ken died on Tuesday at his home after a cardiac arrest. No official cause of death has been released by Flores’ family.

Flores’ final performance took place on January 25 in Norcross, Georgia. Shows were scheduled until April 19. In one of his final social media posts, Flores wrote on X: ‘So I started my tour a couple weeks ago and I’m proud to say I’ve done every single show.

‘5 in Portland 1 in Albuquerque and 4 in Atlanta without a single drop of alcohol. Nervous for Phoenix next weekend but I think I got it I’m not sober just wanna chill a bit.’

The late star got his start in the industry when he began posting on YouTube, with many of his videos going viral. He remained popular on Instagram, TikTok and X, with clips of his comedy gaining lots of engagement.

Aged 22, he was working at PNC Bank but began doing open mic at a local venue, Comedy Shrine.

‘If you get that one big pop, you get bit by the standup bug and you’re addicted. Ever since I went up the first time, I couldn’t stop,’he reflected to Comedy Gazelle.

Tributes have been shared for Flores, with fellow comedians speaking about the loss. Neema Naz wrote: ‘I was hoping this wasn’t real  What a tragic and devastating loss to the world. Ken was a gem and was going to be a star one day. RIP.’

‘Always happy to see and hang with him backstage. May his memory be a blessing,’ added Darren Carter.

‘We were honored to give him a stage to share his talent. Sending so much love to his family and the comedy community,’ shared Hollywood Improv group.

Musicians Los Desvelados said: ‘Ken  Thank you for all amazing times the laughter the jokes, you will be missed RIP.’

As well as his own tours, Flores was a regular contributor to podcasts including Netflix is a Daily Joke. Flores filmed his first comedy special in December which has not yet been released.
