A rescue dog named Banksy - who rose to fame after raising £500 for charity with his talented artwork - has finally found a forever home. The painting pooch, named after iconic street artist Banksy, spent 18 months living in kennels at Bristol Animal Rescue Centre, with potential adopters put off by his spirited personality.

Animal welfare carers decided to let him loose with a canvas and some dog-safe paints, and now the loving five-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier has more than a dozen pieces under his collar - including his own version of the real Banksy's Cat and Dog masterpiece.

The centre's Gina Jones said: "Banksy is a highly intelligent dog. We realised that to hold his attention, as well as the usual behavioural training and agility we do with all of our dogs, we had to find novel ways to keep him entertained.

"Kaya Negus-Bullock, who is part of our team and Banksy's main carer, had done doggie painting with some of our other residents and decided to try it with him. He loved it."

After more than 500 days of hard work, endless searching and national attention on television, the cultured canine finally landed a family of his own.

Last month, he was adopted by Wayne and Jane and will now live in the countryside with them.

A spokesperson for the rescue centre said: "The two of them came down many times to visit Banksy in preparation for him going home with them. They really put in the hours to get to know him, and it's paid off.

"He is now very chilled and settled in his new home, and we couldn't be happier for him."

It's a myth that firefighters are often called out to rescue cats from trees - they're usually too busy dealing with human emergencies to help.

Seven-month-old kitten Lynx was lucky he chose a quiet moment to get stuck on a branch 20 metres from the ground in Gateshead.

After he refused to be coaxed down a carefully placed ladder, firefighter Natalie Barnes had to clamber up the tree to pluck him to safety.

A spokesperson for Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue said: "It was a lovely moment to see Lynx safely back in the arms of his owner. We only attend animal rescues if we aren't busy at other jobs so it was great to be able to help Lynx on this occasion."

Ariana, who recently declared: "I love animals more than I love most people", has eight other dogs, all rehomed from rescue shelters - Coco, Cinnamon, Strauss, Lafayette, Pignoli, Myron, Snape and Lily.

But it's Toulouse, who she nicknames Goose, who has a special place in her heart, joining the singer on tour, and even gracing the front cover of Vogue with her.

I'm worried about how to keep my cat safe outside at night.

Cats are naturally more active during dawn and dusk thanks to their natural instincts to hunt, however it's a good idea if possible to keep your cat inside at night for their safety.

Some studies suggest that more road traffic injuries happen late at night and cats are also more inclined to fight during the night time, particularly when stumbling across each other's territories.

If you are keeping your cat inside overnight, ensure they have access to a clean litter tray.

It's also important to ensure your cat is microchipped, as in the event they get lost or are involved in an accident they can quickly be traced back to you.
