TV presenter Peter Cardwell hospitalized after collapsing at GP practice
TV presenter rushed to hospital after collapsing at GP practice amid ongoing health struggles.
A TV presenter has revealed he was rushed to hospital in an ambulance after collapsing at his GP practice.
TalkTV presenter Peter Cardwell revealed the news as he gave an update on his health. He shared the news on X, formerly named Twitter, as he posted: "Thanks to everyone in touch about my health. Bit of drama yesterday at the GP where I collapsed and was brought to A&E in an ambulance; many tests, drips etc. Docs told me to rest for a week, so I’m hopefully back on air on Weds 29th. NHS and @TalkTV colleagues have been great."
Journalist Peter, who presents on TalkTV on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, was flooded with well wishes from followers. One wrote: "Hope you didn’t have to wait too long in A&E. Get well soon." To which Peter replied: "Thanks -- they were excellent. I was very impressed."
Another follower joked: "Crikey - get well soon, Peter! I know you said you’d stopped drinking recently, do the doctors think that’s the probable cause?" To which Peter quipped: "Haha -- that was six years ago, so I don’t think the two are connected!"

"Wish you well Peter - must have been a scary time x," a third added. The journalist later added an update as he posted a photo of himself laying on his sofa with his black cat laying on his chest for company.
"Thanks for all the good wishes. On the sofa with my best buddy Jack and on the mend, I think. Plan to be back on @TalkTV in a week," he said. Fans have said they miss seeing Peter on their screens as one said: "Weekends are not the same ! Get well soon meow". Another added: "Hi Peter trust that you are feeling a wee bit better. Another week? err How will we cope Lots on Talk TV to keep you going lol See ye soon x". Peter has been suffering with health issues in recent weeks.
Earlier this month, Peter revealed he would be taking some time off air after contracting "flu-like symptoms". He penned: "I haven’t felt properly well physically since Christmas Day and been battling through in a very Silly Man/“l’m Not Ill” sort of way. Today a wall of flu-like symptoms have downed me. I’m not broadcasting again until at least Tuesday, to rest and recover. (Mental health all good)."
Peter previously worked as a special adviser to several government ministers to deliver tactical and strategic advice as well as crisis management and media handling. He now covers politics at Westminster for Talk TV as well as appearing on the channel in regular slots across Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. He also occasionally presents programmes on Times Radio. He joined TalkTV in 2020 as a presenter and the station’s Chief Political Commentator.
