Julian Sands' celeb friends send plea after 'awful news' of abandoned car

Celebrity friends of Julian Sands have shared their concern and prayers, as the search continues for the actor after his abandoned vehicle was found.

Since he was reported missing on Friday in the San Gabriel mountains in southern California, local authorities have been working tireless to find the Dexter actor.

Famous friends of Julian’s have sent messages of support, after the “awful news” broke five days ago as they pray for him to be safely found soon.

Originally born in Yorkshire, Julian has worked with some A-List stars over the years in movies such as the Oscar-nominated A Room With A View, Benediction, Ocean’s 13, Armageddon and TV series such as Smallville, Elementary and 24.

His friend, All Creatures Great and Small actor Samuel West, took to Twitter to plead that his ‘inspirational’ pal Julian is okay. He wrote: “Please, please let Julian Sands be okay. A friend and an inspiration. Awful news.”

His Two and a Half Men co-star Jon Cryer also penned a heartfelt tweet as he said he hoped this would just turn out to be another “adventure.”

"I am hoping against hope that this will turn out to be just another one of his adventures. I’m so sorry for his family and friends going through this,” Cryer added.

British film producer and close friend Cassian Elwes also tweeted: “I’ve known since Friday that my friend Julian Sands has been missing on mt baldy. I’m devastated. A very close family friend who was an adventurer in everything he did. I’ve said many prayers.”

Several other famous faces replied to his tweet with comments of surprise about the dreadful news. The Man In The High Castle lead actor Rufus Sewell said: “God, I really hope he’s ok.”

As Jim Piddock replied: "It’s awful, Cassian. A wonderfully talented and unique man and a delightful, generous friend. Hoping for a miracle.”

The San Bernardino Country Sheriff department released a statement with the PA News agency to update his loyal fans and friends about the investigation.

It reads: “On Friday January 13, at about 7.30pm, a hiker, identified as 65-year-old Julian Sands of North Hollywood was reported missing in the Baldy Bowl area.

“Sheriff’s department search and rescue crews responded and began a search. Because of avalanche risks and trail conditions, the ground crews were pulled off the mountain on Saturday evening. However, we continue to search by helicopter and drones when the weather permits.”

Alongside the statement, they also issued caution to other hikers and said “think twice and heed warnings” before heading out especially in dangerous weather.

Julian lived in the UK, before he moved to the United States in 2020. He is married to journalist Evgenia Citkowitz, whom he shares two daughters with, as well as co-parenting his son with his ex-wife Sarah Sands.
