Nigel Farage gets doused in milkshake outside Wetherspoons
Nigel Farage has been hit with a milkshake outside a Wetherspoons in Clacton after his election announcement.
The Brexiteer was doused in what looked like McDonald’s banana milkshake shortly after officially launching his election campaign in Clacton, Essex, today.
It marked a sticky start for the politician and reality TV star’s election bid.
Footage shows Farage being hit on the face with a full cup of what appears to be milkshake as he steps out of the Moon and Starfish pub in the seaside town where he will now stand in the General Election.
Now two people have reportedly been arrested following the incident, according to PA.
A 25-year-old woman, from Clacton, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault.
While the officers responded to the incident, a man was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
They remain in custody for questioning.
Wearing a suit, the 60-year-old politician was drenched in the yellow milky drink after a woman threw it right across his face from a point blank range.

The milkshake splashed also on scores of surprised people standing behind Farage after an unknown woman threw it with one quick motion.
Reform UK chairman Richard Tice was walking behind Farage, but the businessman appears to have narrowly escaped the splatters.

He is then seen walking to a bus as he wipes his face while surrounded by security, with the drink splattered on his navy suit.
The milky incident was over in a couple of seconds and the young woman was seen walking away calmly.
It comes after Farage announced he will stand in the July 4 election in Clacton-on-Sea and take over as the leader of Reform UK after Richard Tice stepped down.
Tice said shortly after the incident: ‘The juvenile moron who threw a drink over Nigel has just gained us hundreds of thousands more votes.
‘We will not be bullied or threatened off the campaign trail.’
Farage has accused Tories of ‘betraying’ voters over Brexit during his first campaign rally today, urging voters to get him to parliament so he could be a ‘bloody nuisance’ to the Conservatives.
But it is not the first time this has happened.
Farage was famously hit by milkshake while campaigning in Newcastle in 2019.
The attacker was ordered to pay his suit-cleaning bill after pleading guilty to common assault and causing criminal damage.
Farage appeared in good spirits after the incident, telling journalists outside his bus ‘my milkshake brings all the people to the rally’ while holding a McDonald’s drink.
