Man fighting for life in hospital after stabbing in Longsight

A man is fighting for his life after a stabbing in Longsight. The man, aged in his 20s, was knifed on Slade Lane earlier on Friday evening.

A large cordon is in place this evening as police respond to the horror incident. Greater Manchester Police said a man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Images from the scene show several cordons in place, with Slade Lane and the adjoining Slade Grove closed off. The images also reveal a large police presence as the emergency services respond.

Police vehicles are at the scene and officers are patrolling the cordon.
