When he unveiled the extravagant property purchase to his family members, he wrapped it in an enormous red ribbon - and his in laws were absolutely gob smacked

A British property investor has splashed his cash on a ’forever home’ for Mother’s Day to the delight of his in-laws.

Samuel Leeds bought the £600,000 property in Buckinghamshire having viewed it alongside his wife Amanda and her parents Bornwell and Ellen Machekanyanga. When he unveiled the extravagant purchase to his family members, he wrapped it in an enormous red ribbon, The Daily Mail reports.

The 33-year-old has accrued a business worth millions of pounds after being brought up on a Walsall council estate and dropping out of school at 16. Yet he is thankful to be able to share his fortunes with loved ones. Speaking to MailOnline, Samuel said: "’I was champing at the bit to tell them, it was quite emotional - the whole process. We had to rush it through to complete before Mother’s Day but we thought it would be nice to do it by then."

The video was shared on Samuel’s YouTube channel and uncovers a heartwarming reaction. Both parents were shocked as they stepped onto the street and caught a glimpse of the property they had liked now wrapped up as an enormous present. Inside, Bornwell and Ellen received a bunch of flowers, champagne, chocolates and a letter. The letter said: "Mum and Dad, never a day goes by when we don’t appreciate you. We hope you are happy in your new home."

But it turns out the house was not the total present, as they received a cheque for £30,000 to assist with decorating the property and doing refurbishments. Alongside stamp duty, the total gift amounted to just under £600,000. Bornwell said his wife had not stopped talking about the house, but the buying process was difficult for Samuel. Before he had put an offer in, he already intended to buy a different property for the couple, who wished to live closer to their daughter.

And then he came up with a plan. He and Amanda, took Bornwell and Ellen to a bungalow which his parents said looked "great". Samuel was satisfied and put an offer in. Then when the four were dining out together, Bornwell and Ellen said actually they had found somewhere they liked even more. Samuel was dismayed and withdrew the offer, and ended up buying the house they truly loved.

But his relationship with his in-laws has not always been so amicable, because originally Amanda’s father was not on board with her wanting to marry someone from a different background. Samuel and Amanda are from a traditional Zimbabwean family and met a decade ago at a wedding, when Samuel was courageous enough to ask for Amanda’s number. They had a whirlwind romance and soon felt ready to commit the rest of their lives to one another.

Samuel pleaded to Bornwell in Zimbabwe, asking him for his blessing. The man flew over and blessed the union, and Samuel proposed to Amanda the next day and they were married the following month. Nowadays Samuel and his father-in-law are very close. Samuel recalls: "When we met in person we absolutely hit it off and became very, very close."
