Haiti's feared gang leader has given a scary warning to top politicians in a country that is being overwhelmed with violence and political chaos.

The terrifying gang boss, Jimmy 'Barbecue' Cherizier gave a spine-chilling message in a long talk he recorded and sent on messaging app WhatsApp. In his talk, Barbecue made threats to the bosses that considered joining a proposed new council of leaders, after the country's prime minister Ariel Henry resigned from the top job.

"Don't you have any shame?" Barbecue can be heard saying in the recording. "You have taken the country where it is today. You have no idea what will happen. I'll know if your kids are in Haiti, if your wives are in Haiti... if your husbands are in Haiti. If you're gonna run the country, all your family ought to be there."

The thug also said that the stepping down of Henry was just "a first step in the battle" for the Caribbean island nation, home to 11 million people. The situation in Haiti has got much worse quickly after disdain toward former-prime minister Henry saying that he plans to leave his job once the new council of leaders is set up.

The country's main city, Port-au-Prince, was quiet for a short while, but then violence broke out again. Gun fights erupted alongside attacks on institutions such as the police academy and the nation's biggest prison, which had been emptied by men with guns earlier this month, reports TheMirror.com

Since then, life in Haiti has become dire, with thousands of people having nowhere to live and facing treacherous conditions. Bloodthirsty gangs, who have taken over big parts of the capital city, are reportedly doing lots of killings, kidnappings, and committing sexual violence.

The country has been stuck in a long-lasting political and humanitarian crisis since former President Jovenel Moise was killed in 2021. The delay in holding elections and the later appointment of Henry as prime minister made the situation worse, leading to lots of unhappiness and unrest among the people.

Efforts to set up a transitional council have faced many problems, with uncertainty about who will be in it and how it will work. While leaders from the region and the United States have been involved in talks, formal appointments have yet to be finalised.

Meanwhile, international involvement in Haiti is getting less, with countries like Canada and the US reducing embassy staff and stopping regular operations. Worries about instability spreading to nearby regions have led to increased security measures in surrounding territories.
