Levi Roots slams CBB housemates for 'playing games' and hurting each other
Levi Roots lashed out at some of his fellow Celebrity Big Brother contestants in an unexpected and blistering verbal attack.
The 65-year-old businessman - famous for selling Reggae Reggae Sauce - was one of five stars up for eviction during Friday night’s live show. He faced the chop alongside 71-year-old Louis Walsh, 66-year-old Fern Britton, 30-year-old David Potts and 29-year-old Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu. In scenes that aired on Thursday night, Celebrity Big Brother viewers saw the contestants vote for each other in brutal face-to-face nominations.
Tensions have been high in the house in the hours since - with friendships in ruins and trust issues flaring. Levi caused upset in the house when he nominated 25-year-old Colson Smith - who had in turn voted for him because he’d called him boring. But as the casemates went about their daily lives, Levi struggled to cope with some of them acting as if the vicious face-to-face nominations hadn’t happened.
In scenes that aired during Friday’s eviction episode, Levi joined Louis and Ekin-Su in the bedroom to share his thoughts. Asked how he was, Levi said: “I don’t want to play any more. I only play with my son. I don’t play with adults.” Reacting to the mention of playing with his son, Louis told Levi: “You will next week when you give him a big teddy bear.”
Levi said he hated the fact that it seemed some housemates were playing a game in the house. He said: “Everyone’s playing. I don’t wanna play. I’m too old to play. I’m a Rasta man. I don’t do that kind of stuff. And I don’t want to be around people who pretend and play. You play card games, yeah, but you don’t play with human emotions.”
'Confident' Dancing on Ice star Ekin-Su hits back at critics after outfit rowTrying to calm him, Ekin-Su said: “This is all gonna be over, so just enjoy it, Levi.” The sauce maker continued: “I don’t want to see people hurt and people crying and that kind of stuff.”
Louis then said: “No, no. I don’t wanna play. That’s why I’m just me. Do you think the public will see through the real people and the fake people?” Levi mused: “I know they will. Because one minute you’re arguing with each other, you’re ‘babe, babe, babe.’ And the next minute you’re…”
Louis interrupted to say: “I hate all this hugging. I’m fed up of hugging, seriously, cos it’s fake. I don’t like it.”
Viewers watching along were stunned to see Louis and Levi complaining about contestants being fake when Ekin-Su was sitting right beside them and after she had voted for Louis to face eviction while professing to be his friend. One commented on X: “I love that Louis is getting mixed signals from ZeZe but not Ekin, his best friend in there that voted for him?”
