Billie Piper has confirmed her split from musician Johnny Lloyd - and offered a very short summary of his character.

The 41-year-old actress had been in a romance with singer-songwriter Johnny, 40, for eight years - and rumours their romance had broken down swirled earlier this year. Now the former Doctor Who actress has confirmed that the relationship is all over - but it sounds like she holds her ex in high regard.

Billie and Johnny first got together in 2016 and they welcomed a daughter named Tallulah in 2018 - an arrival that Billie was said to be thrilled about at the time. A source claimed after Tallulah arrived: “Billie will be so pleased she's had a girl. With two sons, a boyfriend and two ex-husbands, she can sometimes feel surrounded by men.”

Billie was, of course, first married to Big Breakfast host Chris Evans, 57, in 2001 but they divorced in 2007. She then went on to marry controversial actor Laurence Fox, 45, in 2007, welcome sons Winston, 12, and Eugene, eight, and then divorce in 2016.

Now Billie has confirmed that she has split from Tribes frontman Johnny. She didn’t give details of their relationship of their split, but she told Vogue the father of her daughter is a "very good man”. She did not give any further details of their romance in the interview.

Back in February, rumours swirled that Billie and Johnny had split as their romance had come under strain during lockdown. Sources said at the time that the couple were “very sad” about the collapse of the relationship but agreed they were “better off apart”.

The source added at the time: “Like many couples, lockdown was quite tough for them, so they have had time to really think about what they want their future to look like.” It was also claimed the duo: “have many happy memories and they are concentrating on co-parenting their daughter.”

Johnny previously said he fell for Billie on sight when they first met in a North London pub in 2016. He told the Evening Standard: “It was a big romance. If you meet somebody like that it blows you over. This was who I wanted to be with. Every day she inspires me.”

He gushed over his then-girlfriend, saying: “I cannot stress enough how talented I think she is… I was a bit lost before but seeing what she can achieve in a day, the amount of meetings she takes and how she moves her life forward inspires me to work harder. She doesn’t wait and see if things happen, she goes out and gets them. That’s why she’s so successful.”

He also posed with her in their bed while she was pregnant for one of his solo album covers. He explained: “We were lying in bed on a Sunday. I told Bill that I was going to shoot the cover for my album against my favourite tree in Regent’s Park. She said that’s the worst idea she’d ever heard... She told me the album is about my life so let’s shoot that. I called my friend who is an amazing photographer, he came over in less than 20 minutes, shot it in three frames on a Polaroid and it was done.”

Meanwhile, in her Vogue interview, Billie hinted she had drifted from her other great love in life - acting. She told the fashion magazine: “I do worry about it though… It does concern me… with acting I like it, but I don’t love it or need it like I did in my 20s.”

She continued: “I wonder if I don’t like being an actor for hire any more because I can’t control the outcome in the way I would want to, whereas before I didn’t give a s**t… Because these days I really do give a s**t, you know.”
