The Royal Mint has launched a new 50p coin featuring the diplodocus, as part of its dinosaur range.

This collectable coin is inspired by "Dippy", the Natural History Museum's beloved diplodocus cast that was gifted to them in 1905. This is the last coin in the series.

Each dinosaur design is the work of paleo-artist Robert Nicholls, who had guidance from Professor Paul Barrett at the Natural History Museum. Some of these coins even feature colour.

The collection includes iconic specimens in palaeontology as celebration of some of the most legendary dinosaurs to roam the Earth, including Tyrannosaurus, Stegosaurus and Diplodocus.

The complete collection of dinosaur coins can be bought from the Royal Mint's website starting 9am on Thursday, March 14, with prices beginning at £11. Last month the Royal Mint launched a 50p commemorative coin celebrating 200 years of RNLI lifesaving.
