Emotional tributes have been paid to a young dad who tragically died in a motorbike crash.

David 'DJ' Timmons was described by loved ones as a "beautiful soul" who left a "lasting impression" on everyone he met. The 28-year-old, from Stoke-on-Trent, had been riding down a road in Burslem when he crashed into a parked van late on Monday night. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, he was confirmed dead at the scene, reports Stoke-on-Trent Live.

Police have appealed for anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward. His close friend, Joseph Smiles, has now set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the costs of David's funeral and to support his partner and young son. The GoFundMe page reads: "There's no easy way to write this but we recently lost a close friend unexpectedly who touched the hearts and lives of many people.

"(David) 'DJ' was a beautiful soul and everybody who met him had a lasting impression. He was friendly, funny, a true gentleman with a passion for cars and mechanics which he ran his own business. DJ has a family who are heartbroken and devastated to say the least. All funds will go towards his funeral, and to the mother of his young son Tommy Timmons, who at this time need everybody's support. Any help at all will be extremely appreciated by not only family but everybody who knew DJ."

"The man, in his 20s, was riding a KTM motorbike when he came into collision with a parked van. No-one was inside the van at the time. The rider suffered fatal injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. We have deployed specially-trained officers to support his family at this deeply traumatic time. Collision investigators are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or those with CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from the area at the time."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman told local media: "We were called to a collision involving a stationary car and a motorcyclist on Federation Road. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, and a BASICS emergency doctor attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a man who was the motorcyclist. Ambulance staff immediately administered advanced life support to him. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of ambulance staff at the scene, nothing more could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased."
